Have you ever taken a ride in the car with your mom or dad, only to find they didn’t know any of the pop songs on the radio? Well, as it turns out, you’re not alone. Lots of parents don’t seem to have any idea of what’s going on in the world of popular music.
In the latest hilarious REACT video, the filmmaking team behind this popular YouTube channel asked parents to try to identify modern music. As you might have guessed, the results weren’t too impressive.

Hey, we’ve all been there. Whether you’re a hip teenager or a parent yourself, sometimes the name of a song simply escapes you. Many parents, however, are stuck in the past, listening to the songs they loved in their younger days.
REACT puts a group of parents to the test in this latest video in their modern pop songs series. Are modern parents really as behind the times as their children might think? The filmmakers asked parents to listen to clips from popular songs. Then, the parents must guess the name of the artist and the song. The team tallies up the points at the end of the game to see which song parents know best.
First up is a tricky song from the independent artist, Chance the Rapper…and not a single parent gets it right. Whoops! Of course, that doesn’t mean these hip parents can’t groove to the music. Check out these moms dancing!
Things get a little easier from there, with hits from popular artists like Ed Sheeran, Carrie Underwood, and Maroon 5. Unfortunately, these pop songs still don’t ring a bell for many of the participants. The REACT team keeps it tricky, too, mixing a number of different musical genres into this challenge. From hip hop and rap to country music, the parents are put through their paces.
